Retirement planning

Increasingly, our clients have collected a variety of pension arrangements throughout their careers. These are valuable assets, but most people lack the time and expertise to get the most from them.

We will conduct a complete review of all your existing arrangements, which will go beyond just looking at the current values and will analyse the contracts in some depth. This often uncovers features which were previously unknown to clients. These could be good news, such as the existence of Guaranteed Annuity Rates, or much less welcome news, such as poor investment performance.

We will then go on to consider whether the existing arrangements are properly designed to meet your needs in retirement. Sometimes there are compelling reasons to keep an existing contract in place, but often far greater flexibility and control can often be achieved by a transfer to a more modern contract.

If the pension assets are suitable for transfer, SMB Wealth Management can suggest a range of investment vehicles to suit each individual client’s circumstances and preferences, covering the whole spectrum from fully insured arrangements to complete discretionary investment management.
